Project Location: Moores Creek National Battlefield, Currie, North Carolina
Installation Date: February, 2006
Project Summary
Moores Creek National Battlefield wanted an interpretation of the ten days of troop movements leading up to the Battle of Moores Creek. They also wanted to use replicas of 1790 period maps. Four maps were produced to show combatant movements. Push button on slanted surface below map begins each movement. Visitor reads the text panels describing movements as lights are sequenced. Data Motion Devices solid state control systems were installed behind the slanted surface under each map. The LED light sources were connected to 1 MM fiber optic cable. 200 to 300 points of light were installed in each
map. Darkened the fibers blend into the graphics of the map and are barely visible. When illuminated the fiber optics provide bright points of light.
