Project Location: James Madison's Montpelier, Montpelier Station, Virginia
Installation Date: May 2007
Project Summary
A topographic model of the property including gardens, walking trails, cemeteries and the Landmark Forest was produced.
A menu of venues are presented for visitors to select depending on the time available, two hours, one-half day, or all day. Touch switches activate LED lights highlighting the selected venues.
Data Motion Devices solid state control systems were installed inside the cabinet. The LED light sources were connected to 1.5 MM fiber optic cable. Approximately 200 points of light were installed in the map. Darkened, the fibers blend into the graphics of the map and are barely visible. Capacitive touch switches were used to eliminate switch failure and reduce maintenance.
